  • Art this Term

    Key stage three students have been studying colour theory in Art this term.  They have created their own abstract colour studies mixing all the colours from the three primary colours.  

    GCSE students have been using colour theory to create work linked to different artists.

  • Burrows - Tutor Time

    Burrows are reading War Horse during morning tutor time on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. They enjoy their own books on Mondays and Thursday's and on Fridays we complete the quiz.

    Students are listening, following text and answering questions based on each chapter.

  • Greencliff - Tutor Time

    Greencliff have been really focussed on reading in the mornings with students gaining more and more confidence.  The current book 'The Wizard's of Once' is providing a good balance of accessible reading and words that have helped improved their vocabulary. 

     

    Leading up to Remembrance Day student's have also read through some poems with me linked to the 11/11/25.

  • Odd Socks Day

    Next week is Anti Bullying Week and to mark the start of this, we will be participating in Odd Socks Day on Monday. Students can come in wearing odd socks.

  • Marland Monster Mash

    Marland held a Halloween party at the end of last half-term. Staff and students got into the spooky spirit and dressed up in Halloween costumes. 

    Connor and students' helped to make a buffet lunch including: Zombie stacks (sandwiches), Fangtastic pizzas, Monster fingers (Vegetable sticks), Mummy Dogs (Hotdogs wrapped in pastry) and a Witches special fruit salad.

  • Humanities this Term

    Starting off with more of a history focus, students have been learning about life in the trenches during the wars.  There were lots of great knowledge shared amongst the students and also an increasing understanding of what life was like during these times.  The students were also able to link this to current events in the world today and showed great knowledge and understanding of how modern conflicts echo those of the past.

  • PSHE this Term

    The first term of the new academic year has seen the student's study and reflect on healthy relationships both on and offline.  Students in different year groups showed great insight into what impacts their relationships with other people and how the increasing use of technology in our lives has started to shape and change how we interact with one another.

  • Lundy - Tutor Time

    This term Lundy are excited to be reading Of Mice and Men. This is the story of two men working on ranches. They are called Lennie and George. George looks after Lennie, who is rather like a child. They hope to make enough money to buy their own farm and raise rabbits. Unfortunately, their luck changes and the story has a tragic ending.

  • Maths this week

    In maths we've been exploring risk and chance by playing the game "Blocko". The students have used sample spaces and probability to come up with some great strategies whilst discussing the difference between theoretical and experimental probability. Some of the KS4 students have been attempting some challenging GCSE questions on probability this week too.

  • Peppercombe - Tutor Time

    Peppercombe started the week with a wellbeing breakfast in Morrison's. We've started to look at our brains in tutor time to discover if we use our right or left side more compared to others. This has generated some interesting conversations about how we all look at the world and how we are all different learners.

    Thank you to Warhammer Workshop – Barnstaple for delivering an inspiring and hands-on session for our enthusiastic Warhammer fans! Our students showed great creativity and focus as they designed and completed their own models within a set time limit.

     

    The Warhammer Alliance is a fantastic educational programme that introduces young people to the world of Warhammer, combining fun, creativity, and valuable learning experiences.
