Our Safeguarding Team

Safeguarding Statement

Marland school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  We recognise that all adults, including temporary staff, volunteers and governors, have a full and active part to play in protecting our students from harm, and that the child or young person’s welfare is our paramount concern.

We are committed to providing a caring, positive, safe and stimulating environment that promotes the holistic development of the individual child or young person and regularly review our rigorous Safeguarding Policy and Procedures accordingly.  All staff (including supply staff, volunteers) and governors are made aware and regularly reminded of this vitally important aspect of our professional practice.

All staff who work for the school will have been subject to an Enhanced DBS check.  Parents and carers can access our Safeguarding Policy on this website and a hard copy is available on request.  Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child or young person’s welfare.  We will ensure that our concerns about a pupil / student are discussed with his parents / carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child or young person’s welfare.

We have a team of Safeguarding Staff that can be seen on posters around our school sites.

  • Mrs Faith Butler (Chair Governors / Designated Safeguarding Governor)
  • Mrs Kathy Martin (Vice Chair Governors / Designated Safeguarding Governor)
