• Funky Shirt Friday

  Our staff dressed up for funky shirt Friday. As you can see, the aim was to arrive at school with the most interesting looking shirt they could find. Students enjoyed seeing staff wear something a bit different than usual, and it inspired them to suggest other ideas such as wacky hair day!

  We hope our students enjoyed this and will take part in similar days in the future.

  

• Marland Rovers Football Match

  Well done to all students at Marland Secondary (Bideford) for taking part in the football tournament at Sandymere football club. Our students showed perseverance and teamwork throughout the matches that took part. 

  

• Our students take a walk on the wild side at Exmoor Zoo!

  The greysands group visited Exmoor zoo this week as part of their weekly enrichment activities. Students were given many sensory and kinesthetic opportunities throughout the visit. They particularly enjoyed the talk given by one of the animal handlers at the zoo, with opportunities for them to stroke and hold some of the animals. Even Steph and Sam got involved!

  

• Marland steps into the VR World!

  Students at the Marland Secondary Bideford site have been enjoying the wonders of virtual reality and learning how immersive VR can be. The VR has many cross-curricular opportunities for our learners, such as; Geography, Music, PE/Fitness, History, Maths and English. These resources and games will help engage our learners in a fun and engaging way. The VR is currently being used during ICT lessons and reward time which has gone down a storm!

  

• Marland makes a splash at North Devon Wake Park!

  Marland Secondary (Bideford) braved the waters at the North Devon Wake Park, taking part in the total-wipeout style assault course. Students got involved and used teamworking skills to overcome some of the many inflatable obstacles in their way. Real perseverance and determination was exhibited during this visit. Well done all that took part!

  

• Stop motion!

  Our IT teacher Connor has started making some Stop-motion animation with the children. This is the first taster of their own ideas, taking inspiration from films such as Chicken run and Fantastic Mr Fox. The children have been so motivated and engrossed, they've not wanted to stop!

• Trip out to North Devon wake park

  Students and staff enjoyed a day at North Devon Wake park. The sun was shinning and the atmosphere was incredible.

  We welcomed people to our new site to show how far it has come. We're incredibly proud of what has been achieved, and it was good to show those involved what an amazing setting we now have for our students.
